About Your
Dog Trainer

I’m a relationship focused dog trainer based in Park City, Utah. I’m just as obsessed with the outdoors as I am with dogs. More importantly, I’m mom to six rescue dogs: Brooks, Koda, Sawyer, Francis, Lucas, and Hank (you might see their cameos in The Adventure Dog Channel).

I started working with dogs almost twenty years ago by volunteering at my local animal shelter. One of the dogs there, a beautiful and adventurous lab mix, was on the euthanasia list (simply because she’d been there too long). I made it my personal mission to save Gypsy and struck a deal with a local rescue. I would foster and get the dog ready for adoption if they would find a loving family.

That’s how I initially fell in love with dog training (and yes, Gypsy lived a long and happy life with her owners). Today, I work as a professional dog trainer, combining my two passions:
outdoor adventure and dogs.

Through my work, I’ve found that high-energy dogs experience a much more fulfilling life when they’re included on adventures (like biking and skiing). But most people experience roadblocks when training their dogs for these activities.

That’s why I made The Adventure Dog Channel. It’s my way of removing the roadblocks, so both you and your dog feel empowered on the trail.

FAQS

The Important Questions

  • As a professional dog trainer myself, I wanted to create a resource that’s more accessible than traditional training. You can learn all the necessary basic skills and handpick the activities you want to work on. Then, you train at your own pace. Like any dog training, The Adventure Dog Channel takes work and consistency, and it’s important for dog owners to be committed for the long haul. But the benefit is, you get the same results at a reduced price.

  • Absolutely. When training, it’s best for you to become the person your dog ultimately trusts. By setting your dog up for success from the beginning, you may experience faster progress. For dedicated clients, the training videos work just as well as in-person sessions.

  • It may surprise you how many activities are included in The Adventure Dog Channel. You’ll find sections on hiking, biking, treadmill work, camping, backcountry skiing, skate skiing, pulling sports (like skijoring and canicross), climbing, paddleboarding, and interacting with horses.

  • There are a few reasons your dog may be reactive. It could be due to pent up energy, boredom, and frustration. Or, their reactivity could come from a place of fear, anxiety, and insecurity. No matter the root cause, it’s so important to take great care when working with a reactive dog.

I find that a solid foundation in basic training, structured exercise, and a balanced routine (that teaches your dog how to relax) can ultimately shift your dog’s energy. The goal is to build a trusting relationship where these routines and you (as their “mountain guide”) become a source of safety. We teach all of this in The Adventure Dog Channel and include added support through video calls.

  • In extreme cases of aggression, resource guarding, or anxiety, it may be best to find a local professional trainer who can meet with you in person before adventure training. Please reach out if I can help you find some options in your area.

Let’s Weigh the Options

It’s Time to Stop Living on the Sidelines and Actually Become the Unstoppable Owner-and-Dog Team on the Trail

When you first got your dog, I bet you had big dreams of days on the trail with your new best friend.

I’M HERE TO REMIND YOU THAT YOUR VISION OF HIKING, BIKING, SKIING, AND CAMPING WITH YOUR DOG ISN’T LOST.

Sure, you’ve hit a few roadblocks and off-leash training feels impossible at times, but you’re getting closer to results (I can feel it).

Whether or not you join The Adventure Dog Channel, I want you to know I’m on your team. In my experience, there’s nothing better than exploring the world with your dog. Believe me, it’s 100% worth the training and consistency.

Always cheering you on,

(And Brooks, Koda, Sawyer, Francis, Lucas, and Hank) 🐾
